New Year’s Fun Facts

So a new year is upon us.  I hope it brings many blessings to all.

Here are a few facts that I thought were interesting that are associated with New Years.

45% of Americans make new year’s resolutions. The top one’s are: to lose weight, get organized, to spend less and save more, to stay fit and healthy, and to quit smoking but about 25% of these people abandon their resolutions by the 2nd week of January.

Americans drink close to 360 million glasses of sparkling wine during this time to celebrate the new year.

Almost 1 million people gather at Times Square to watch the ball drop at the stroke of midnight on New Years Eve.

There are approximately ten thousand participants in the Mummers Parade that is held in Philadelphia each year.

More vehicles are stolen on New Year’s Day than on any other holiday.

January 1st is also First Foot Day – who steps into your home first?  This is an old Scottish Tradition but celebrated by many American Families.
