Cleaning up after your pet can be a chore but here are a few tips to make it a little easier.
Keeping pet toys clean is very important to be sure that you pets do not ingest bacteria and dirty toys could also cause bladder infections as well.
To clean pet toys: For plush toys, if they can go in the washing machine then do so, if not, then give them a dry shower by sprinkling the toy with baking soda, letting it sit for 15 minutes and then brushing clean. If the toy is plastic, then wash with a solution of 4 tablespoons of baking soda dissolved in a quart of warm water.
Pet bedding: Be sure to vacuum all pet bedding and the inside of crates thoroughly. Most pet bedding should be washable or at least have removable pads. You can machine wash these along with any pet blankets. To keep pet bedding smelling fresh in between washing times, just sprinkle them with baking soda, wait 15 minutes and then vacuum it away.
You can wash collars, harnesses, and leashes with a little dish washing soap and water if they are cloth or nylon. You could also toss them into a nylon bag or pillow case to run them through the washing machine. You can wipe leather down with a wet cloth then rub with a little saddle soap. While cleaning these items, always check for worn areas – they may need to be replaced.
Shedding is just a part of life for the pet owner but if you keep up after the vacuuming, it will keep it at a low roar. There are several things you can work with to get pet hair off of furniture. Try a lint roller, rubbing a rubber glove over the areas, use a squeegee with a rubber edge, or try hand-held vacuum attachments made especially for picking up fur.
Ok, now onto the dreaded letter box. To keep the smell of the litter box under control, always change litter often and be sure to wash the box out before replacing with clean litter. Use a non-ammonia based cleaner. Consider using a litter that helps control odors. A litter that is designed to control both urine and feces odor is Arm & Hammer Double Duty Advanced Odor Control Clumping Litter.
If your pet has an outdoor house, be sure to rake away any leaves or other debris from all around the structure. Always keep the inside and outside clean by giving it a washing with a non-ammonia based cleaner and rinse everything thoroughly.
Happy Cleaning 🙂
