Cool Tips for Getting Rid of Pet Stains and Odors

Have a pet? Here are some tips for getting pet stains and odors out of your carpet.
Soak up as much of the urine as you can
Rinse the area thoroughly with water and soak up the
water as best you can.
Consider rentin

g or using an extractor or wet vac. It works
like a vacuum cleaner but forces water through the
carpet and then extracts the soiled water back out. Do
NOT use chemicals with these machines. They work
much better with plain water.
Use a high quality pet odor neutralizer after the area is
very clean. Be sure to read the directions and warnings
on the bottle like testing the carpet area.
If the area still looks like it may have a stain, try any good
carpet stain remover after it’s completely dry and
neutralized.
Avoid using steam cleaners. The heat will set the stain
permanently.
Avoid using cleaning chemicals – these do not effectively
eliminate or cover the odor and may actually encourage
your pet to use the same area again.
If you have a difficult time finding the area where your pet
had their little accident, you can try using a black light.
Turn your lights off and search for the area using only
the black light. The black light will usually show even old
stains. After you locate the stain, circle it with chalk.
